Anti-Racism Workshop

  • Sunday, January 12, 2020
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • First Unitarian Church, Ellsworth and Morewood Streets, Pittsburgh, PA

Many white people have a desire to eliminate racism but are frustrated by their apparent inability to do anything to reduce the corrosive effect of racism in our society.  We are horrified by a criminal justice system that severely punishes black people. We despair over an educational system that consigns black children to inadequate schools. We say we'd prefer to live in diverse neighborhoods, work in diverse settings, yet we perpetuate segregation in all aspects of our lives. Moreover, we are uncomfortable even discussing racism, afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing, or offending or being accused of being racist.

We can choose a different path. Join with other anti-racist people to recognize white privilege, oppose racist policies, and create a better society, not just for the sake of fairness, but for our own survival.

Individual Session syllabus to follow.
